Aceitunas Torrent and the International Anti-Corruption Day

The 9th of December is International Anti-Corruption Day and coincides with the signing of the 10th Principle of the UN Global Compact which states: ‘’Companies must work against corruption in all of its forms, including extortion and bribery’’.

Aceitunas Torrent proudly welcomes the 10th anniversary of this Principle and is fully committed to the fight against corruption in all its forms. As an expression of our support, we have developed internal policies and programmes in line with current legislation and which we have integrated into our working practices, and which aim to prevent, detect and investigate possible cases of corruption or bribery. We also have an ongoing programme which monitors the efficiency and effectiveness of internal control systems, their compliance and their effectiveness in preventing corruption.

Our company code states that ‘’Bribery and extortion is not permitted under any circumstances’’, and that employees of Aceitunas Torrent must comply with its guidelines such as:

Bribes, gifts or undeserved rewards are not to be offered or accepted, either directly or indirectly. This includes the undue exchange of cash, loans, special privileges, personal favours, benefits or services.

The Spanish Network of the United Nations World Pact encourages the closer collaboration between public and private organisations involved in economic development and social responsibility. The Network is participating with other organisations such as Transparency International in a series of educational events between the 9th and 12th of December which aim to spread awareness and encourage the collaboration in the fight against corruption. The most important event will take place in Madrid on the 12th of December and will focus on themes such as transparency, corruption and good government.
